Each year Spain’s Valencia region produces most of the more than 855,000 metric tons of the country’s rice for its own consumption. However, a small amount of the very best of the rice crop in the village of Calasparra in Murcia is cultivated for export. This uniquely special rice is grown in still water utilizing an ancient irrigation system developed by the Moors.
The plump grains of this fine Spanish rice absorb water and flavor well, while maintaining a firm texture.
