La Familia! | We are in Spain visiting family (La Familia) and visiting our vendors for the first half of June. We are also hoping to find an Olive oil from the Cordoba area to offer for the Te Amo Olive Oil club. Here are a couple of the places that we will stay in the Andalucia region: Palacio de Mengibar (www.palaciodemengibar.com) in the Jaen region and El Rey Moro (www.elreymoro.com) in Sevilla. We will also visit an Olive Oil museum in Jaen, very close to our distributor of Fuenroble and the Infused olive oils. Check out these places on line! Just like last year, we will stop at the great little bar in Tembleque for tapas. (The best Pisto Manchego I have ever had!) Tembleque is on the way to Andalucia area in the La Mancha region. | | | | | | New Recipe: Jamón Serrano Wrapped Melon This makes a great sweet and savory appetizer for summer gatherings! It’s also very quick and very easy. Ingredients: Cantaloupe melon Honeydew Melon Serrano or Iberico Jamon (ham) Sherry Vinegar toothpicks Cut Cantaloupe and/or Honey Dew melon into cubes Wrap them with Jamon Serrano and secure with a toothpick. Drizzle lightly with Jerez (sherry) vinegar | Our Products are Gluten Free and Trans Fat Free! The current food-labeling trend is “Gluten Free” and “zero Trans Fats”. Gluten Free means the product does not have certain grains such as wheat, barley, or Rye in its ingredients. Trans Fat is where the product has had its fat hydradinated that changes the chemical make up of the fat. This makes the fat more solid. All of the products that we carry contain no trans fat. For the most part, Spain wants their food in its original form, not chemically altered. Except for our Hot Chocolate Mix, all of our products are Gluten Free. | | PLUS: What goes well with Spanish Tapas? Sangria, of course! Here is a very simple recipe that can be put together within minutes: 1 lemon, thinly sliced and seeded 1 orange, thinly sliced and seeded 1 peach cut into wedges (can also use whole strawberries, about 1 cup) Place all fruit into pitcher. Sprinkle with 4 Tablespoons of Sugar. Add a bottle of Spanish Red wine. Chill well. Then add 2 cups of sparkling mineral water and ice. Serve immediately *Authors note: better buy two of everything for doubling the recipe. Sangria is like Spanish “Kool-Aid”! | June Special!
